General Sponsorship. In return for sponsorship support - whether it be support from an individual, a company or education trust or agency, all benefactors will be given the option to receive a mention and to display a company logo on the CWYM website sponsorship page, and for all sponsorship support over £150 - a limited number of free tickets (at SWYM’s discretion) to a WYO concert of your choice. More general sponsorship opportunities include:
The sponsoring of an orchestral instrument. There are serious shortages of certain orchestral instruments in the world of youth music. Without a balanced combination of instruments being studied, the future of youth orchestras is under threat. Whether it be due to the cost of obtaining and/or maintaining a particular instrument, ease of finding a teacher or simply being introduced to the more unusual of choices, with your help CWYM can continue to support and encourage the learning of these endangered species through boosting the instruments’ profile, running workshops and in some cases - purchasing and then lending the instruments free of charge. Current instruments in danger: bassoon, trombone, orchestral percussion and the viola. Sponsorship of an endangered instrument: from £25
The sponsoring of coach hire. We are very keen to offer our young musicians a wide variety of musical experiences whether it be performing locally or across the UK, attending performances in the West End or Southbank Centre in London or taking part in national festivals or foreign concert tours – we regularly need to hire coach transport. Current 49 seater coach hire prices for a journey to London stand at approximately: £550 per vehicle. Coach hire sponsorship donation: £250 -£550
The sponsoring of instrument-van hire. Each time the WYO performs in public, we need to hire a van to transport percussion instruments and equipment. From music and music stands to specialist seating, timpani, xylophone, bass drum etc. – all of the equipment that appears on the WYO’s concert stage (other than individual musicians’ own instruments) has to be transported from our rehearsal hall to the concert venue and back again after the show. Sponsorship for one day’s van hire: £125
The sponsoring of music purchases/hire. Each term the CWYM has to purchase or hire sets of music for each of its ensembles. On average, purchasing a single set of music for the wind band can cost approximately £40-£60, a set for full orchestra can cost anywhere from £80-£300 whilst hiring a set covered by copyright and therefore not available to buy, can easily reach £450 for just the one piece! Sponsorship of music purchase or hire: £50-£250
The sponsoring of general musical equipment purchase/hire and maintenance: a wide variety of equipment is required to run a busy music centre such as the CWYM. Whilst the majority of the young musicians bring their own instruments, there are exceptions. The assortment of equipment and instruments that go together to make up an orchestral percussion section is so vast that it would be impossible for any one young musician to own so many different instruments. Equally, more unusual instruments such as the bass clarinet and cor-anglais are extremely costly and less likely to be privately owned and so it falls to the orchestra and Centre to supply and maintain these instruments (recent servicing on our set of 4 timpani reached £500 and work on the orchestra’s cor-anglais cost £350). There is also a constant need to replace much used music stands (the average cost of a heavy duty music stand is around £50 – the younger CWYM ensembles use approximately 20, the WYO can use as many as 65!) We also need to replace worn out music folders and boxes and purchase music library protective packaging. Sponsorship of general musical equipment purchases: from £30
If you would like to sponsor a specific instrument/equipment purchase and see it being played or used during concerts, we have a “wish list” of currently required items. Please see below!
Individual Item Wish List:
Orchestral bass clarinet, Eb Clarinet, contra bassoon, set of starter timpani for the WYF, replacement music stands, RAT stands (acoustic screens designed to protect musicians' hearing when in close proximity to loud instruments), mini basses for string orchestras, pedal harp
Thank you for your interest in supporting the music-making of these talented and enthusiastic local young musicians at the CWYM, we hope not only that you will like the idea of supporting the CWYM through sponsorship but that we will also see you at one of our concerts very soon!
